The nomination or application window for the West Africa Power and Petroleum Awards (WAPPA) will be open from 1 September 2023 to 31 July 2024. Subsequently, a press release will be issued regarding shortlisted applicants.
The country equivalent of a Ministry of Energy, a company/institution, or a third party may submit a nomination directly to the Awards. In any case, the Secretariat shall formally acknowledge the application and issue a written notification to shortlisted nominees.
All nominations and supporting materials must be submitted electronically through the WAPPA website (www.wappa.africa.com/nomination-category) or via email (info@wappa.africa.com)
Please review the Awards Criteria document for detailed reference to the judging and scoring benchmarks for each category before submission. Prior to submission, changes can be made to applications. However, applicants will not be allowed to make any modifications after submission.
The West Africa Power and Petroleum Awards (WAPPA) further reserves the right to:
• Move a nomination entry to a better suited category
• Withhold an award with insufficient category entries
• Not consider incomplete entries
Each nomination must be submitted with keen attention to the category description and criteria. Carefully go through the Awards Brochure and Categories Criteria before submission. WAPPA recommends that all submitted documents are tailored to the respective category for which it was made.
Any additional materials that support the nomination can be submitted, that may include web links, photographs, and other documents. Applications or nominations should be submitted in either the English or French language.
Please be assured that all information and supporting documents submitted via the online nomination portal on the WAPPA website or through the email are treated with utmost confidentiality, only to be used by the Awarding Council and the WAPP Secretariat.

Award Winners will only be declared at the West Africa Power and Petroleum Awards event. The shortlisted candidates must therefore attend the awards ceremony which will be held in Accra, Ghana, in September 2024.
